Welcome to the homepage of silversmith David Kerkhof at studio 925.
David was born into a family of jewellers and goldsmiths. From an early age onwards he was determined to become a smith himself. At the age of 16 he started his education in this discipline. The first ten years after graduating he specialised in making jewelry. He then started on a new path, making large silver objects.
His sensibility where detail and colour are concerned, shown earlier in his jewelry, can now be noticed in this bigger work.
David intuitively knows how far silver can be stretched, and he exploits this quality of the material to the maximum. Contrary to many other silversmiths of this era, he makes use of the shine of silver as well. When executing his designs, he works very methodically, while the designs themselves have flowing, organic forms.
David Kerkhof also works for the world-renowned flutemaker Eva Kingma. She specialises in the lower instruments, from the Alto flute to the Sub contrabas flute. People from all over the world come to visit her in her workshop in the tiny village of Grolloo in the north of The Netherlands.
